Friends And Vultures
Sometimes you have to go with your gut—and doing so is what enabled the L2PNet to be among the very first media outlets to report the death of Michael—even before CNN. As MSNBC put it, the news broke on the Internet and shortly thereafter, broke the Internet.
Jackson Death Brings Out Both Friends and Vultures—
Twitter crashed and FaceBook and YouTube ground to a halt under the Jackson related traffic. As of Sunday night, eight of the top 10 singles and seven of the top 10 albums on the iTunes store belonged to the self-proclaimed King of Pop.
The days following his death brought a ton of coverage and press releases. They ranged from those that made sense, like legendary producers Gamble and Huff (seen in this photo with the family including dad Joe Jackson) who produced several records for them in the mid '70s and from sound company Clair Worldwide which provided audio for a number of MJ's tours to the ridiculous—like one from a venue in Philly next door to a venue where the Jacksons performed on several tours. YouTube was awash in musical tributes to the star—some genuine and heartfelt and others just looking for some quick publicity.

What can L2P add of value? Not a lot which is why we have stayed out of it after the news flash on his death. We did speak to some behind the scenes production pros who toured with him extensively and who cast doubt on the molestation charges saying that in several world tours they saw plenty of the kind of hijinks one expects on tours with women but no hint at all of the kind of activity he was accused of which changed the course of his career.
Two extensive accounts of career are available from MSNBC and the Daily Mail of London where Jackson was scheduled to begin a run of 50 shows in just a few weeks.
